About Politikens Forhal

On a global scale, Politiken’s Forhal is a unique exhibition space for Danish and international contemporary art. Located in one of Denmark’s largest media houses at Copenhagen’s City Hall Square, we host exhibitions, events, talks, and performances that offer new and critical perspectives on the public issues discussed in the columns of our journalistic neighbors. In this way, Politiken's Forhal bridges art and media to effectively secure art’s place in the public discourse.

Since 1970, the newspaper Politiken has introduced contemporary art to the Danish public through graphic editions, newspaper prints, and exhibitions, following the motto "art for everyone." Guided by this philosophy, Politikens Forhal today operates as a platform for contemporary art exhibitions extended through prints in the newspaper and temporary commissions at Copenhagen's City Hall Square.

Nowadays, Politikens Forhal is part of JP/Politiken Media Group and operates as an independent exhibition space with its own economy, separate from the house's media operations. Politikens Forhal is run by Head of Exhibitions Ida Schyum who is supported and advised by an art committee consisting of, among others, responsible editors-in-chief, directors, critics, and cultural journalists from the house.
